CELLULAR BUILDING BLOCKS FROM OUTER SPACE?

Perhaps no other realm of investigation has suffered from as much disappointment as the search for nature-only ways to convert raw chemicals into a reproducing cell. The level of desperation among these researchers is evident in the amount of imagination required to concoct solutions to this intractable evolutionary dilemma.

For example, serious scientists will sometimes admit that life must have come from another planet because they know it could not have resulted from any earthbound conditions. Atoms and physics are the same everywhere, so almost any life-friendly set of conditions can be arranged in laboratories, and none of them show the slightest glimmer of hope for life from soup. And there is no scientific evidence that life anywhere but the earth would be possible.

Periodically, biochemicals are discovered in meteorites, and we soon find articles with titles like this: “Life Elements Came from Space.”1 But in every case, further research shows such discoveries to be irrelevant to the problem, and many of them fail to adequately rule out the strong possibility that the biochemicals entered the meteorites after they had been lying on the ground.

Most origin-of-life research is focused on obtaining just the basic chemicals of life—some of which do not form under any lab conditions. Many turn a blind eye to an equally impossible problem—obtaining just the right information required to arrange those basic chemicals into life-sustaining molecular machines. No wonder that even outspoken God-haters admit, “The most profound unsolved problem in biology is the origin of life itself.”2

Of course the problem has been solved. All the evidence shows that only God could have created life. Who is willing to follow the evidence where it leads?
